If you are just getting started with renewable energy or you want to advance your career further, then you may want to apply for Adapted Learning with Renewables open Training on Hydro Power.
Our hydro power training will allow you to learn more about renewable energy and energy efficiency. We offer field Training and excursions to make learning more exciting.
In this training, you will be able to do the following:
- Understand and apply the functions of hydropower installations with run-of-river capacities.
- Evaluate the purpose and functions of components, both electronic and mechanical, that make up the installation of a hydropower system.
- Define the head and head loss concept
- Differentiate static pressure from dynamic pressure
- Use theory to calculate the operating conditions of optimum turbines and generators in order to assess the adjustments to be made for optimum performance.
- Measure and calculate rates and inputs of water flow, pressure, and power
- Calculate the efficiency of a system
- Understand and record rotational speeds of turbines, as well as to measure the current, and voltage, given the variations of the electrical load and power curve
Upon the completion of the online and the practical training, students are awarded the Adapted Learning with Renewables Certificate.
Students are then recommended to proceed to specialization courses, which can either be a certification as a Renewable Energy Project Developer, with a particular focus on Hydropower-derived systems.
Course content:
Hydro Power training under Adapted Learning with Renewables entails the study of systems that are smaller in scale. This means that this knowledge can be easily applied to water and power systems in households located in remote rural areas that virtually do not have a connection to the electricity grid.
Generally, the course outline will initially focus on the following:
- Various types of hydropower derived plants and systems
- Assessment of available resources
- Component of Civil engineering
- Electro-mechanical equipment used in these systems
- The economics involved in the process
