ProVention, established by the World Bank in 2000, aims to reduce the risk and social, economic and environmental impacts of natural hazards on vulnerable populations in developing countries in order to alleviate poverty and contribute to sustainable development. The Consortium provides a forum for forging partnerships and promoting multi-stakeholder networking, promoting policy as an informal forum for dialogue and agenda-setting, improving practice through more effective problem-solving, and managing knowledge through combining knowledge advancement, gathering and sharing.
