SEARCA
Leading Organization:
Description:
The Knowledge Center on Climate Change Adaptation in Agriculture and Natural Resources in Southeast Asia (KC3) envisions quick and easy access and dynamic exchange of science-based knowledge solutions/adaptation technologies and best practices for those in the agriculture and natural resource sectors in Southeast Asia. The harvest of adaptation technologies and best practices in Southeast Asia will help the region prepare for the negative impacts of Climate Change in the agriculture and natural resources sectors.
As SEARCA is working on addressing the development needs of the poor and the marginalized in the region, particularly in the rural areas, the knowledge solutions harvested by KC3 will be a good basis for policymakers, researchers, development workers, media, and farming/fishing communities in engaging in policy formulation or in discussing and determining policy-related interventions needed on climate change adaptation.
SEARCA was established by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) in 1966 primarily "to provide to the participating countries high quality graduate study in agriculture; promote, undertake, and coordinate research programs related to the needs and problems of the Southeast Asian region; and disseminate the findings of agricultural research and experimentation."
