    Summary:

Project Description: The Rural Transport Infrastructure Project is expected to advance the integration of the rural transport network to extend accessibility to the high proportion of the population without road transport. The project is expected to invest in rural feeder roads and provincial roads to complete gaps in the network, particularly in areas of high agricultural production potential. A piggy-backed TA will be included for Supporting Transport Infrastructure Development, to consolidate the Government’s asset management and community contracting reforms.

    Expected Outputs:

Improvements to rural accessibility will lower transport costs and increase service reliability, thereby increasing incentives for agricultural production and providing rural income opportunities. Improved accessibility will also facilitate delivery of social services that are currently constrained by the incomplete and poorly maintained network
