    Summary:

    This project consists of strengthening the technical capabilities of the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the private sector of Togo on climate change by Togo Friends of the Earth NGO. The CC DARE team conducted an inception mission to Togo from the 29th of June to the 2nd of July 2009. The objectives of the mission were to increase awareness of the CC DARE programme among main stakeholders involved in climate change adaptation in Togo. Consultations with national stakeholders and development partners were held in order to scope potential initiatives for support through CC DARE, and determine how CC DARE can contribute to national adaptation priorities, in the context of other programming initiatives supported by UNEP, UNDP and other bilateral and multilateral development partners. The CC DARE programme lies within the scope of existing and planned climate adaptation and related activities in Togo, as identified in the Strategic Document on Poverty Reduction, the Initial National Communications (INC), the National Capacity Self Assessment (NCSA), the National Adaptation Programme of Action (NAPA), as well as in the ongoing development process of the Second National Communications (SNC) of Togo.

    Expected Outputs:

    Following activities are planned under the Friends of the Earth project:

    * Sensitization of 125 NGO Associations and private sector actors on climate change

    * The production of a documentary film on climate change

    * Production of posters and commercial broadcast;

    * Sketches on climate change

    * Organization of public and televised sensitization meetings;

    * Radio broadcasts.
