The project aims to pilot a bottom-up approach for mainstreaming protection into DRR activities in the Solomon Islands, by strengthening the capacity of local CSOs to work with communities to better understand underlying vulnerabilities, build community resilience, and put mechanisms in place to mitigate the impact of disasters, especially on the most vulnerable.
Objectives include:
- Human resources developed in vulnerability and mitigation analysis activities that integrate protection
- Protection gaps addressed as part of comprehensive DRR planning to strengthen capacity to respond effectively to disasters
- Empowerment of local CSOs to take the protection mandate forward
- Add value to the existing DRR work of ANGOs operating in SI and larger Pacific region
