##### Development Cooperation with the European Union

The Republic of Palau is one of the 6 "new" Pacific ACP countries, having become a signatory to the Cotonou Agreement in 2000. Under the 9th European Development Fund (2002-2008) - three national programmes were selected, comprising; (1) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency; (2) Capacity building for Non-State Actors in the Energy sector; and, (3) Disaster Risk Reduction and Risk Management. All three programmes are currently being implemented. Additionally, Palau benefits from a number of 9th European Development Fund financed Regional Programmes in the areas of education, fisheries, agriculture, trade, hazards mitigation, water and capacity building (click here for further details of the 9th EDF Regional Programme).
