Summary:
National adaptation programmes of action (NAPAs) provide a process for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to identify priority activities that respond to their urgent and immediate needs to adapt to climate change – those for which further delay would increase vulnerability and/or costs at a later stage. The following summarizes the NAPA for Haiti.

14. Réduction de la vulnérabilité des ressources en eau par la Réhabilitation de vingt cinq points d’eau dans les quatre communes du Bas Nord-Ouest
Expected Outputs:
Linkages will be established with different Policies, Projects and Programs at national level, relevant to the preparation of NAPA, such as:
* The Implementation of the National Environmental Action Plan (NEAP), in which climate change is considered a priority
* Sectoral policies related to Biodiversity and Desertification
* Integrated national policy for watershed management. This new policy should target many critical issues such as ground water recharge area, protection of important aquifers.
* Infrastructure projects that cover construction of new facilities to improve the availability and the quality of drinking water, rehabilitation protection and extension of systems
* Geographical Information System (GIS) Project at the Ministry of Planning which is preparing land use map, erosion and density of housing for the entire territory and database at the national level (UTSIG Project)
* National Policy for Disaster Preparedness prepared by the Ministry of Interior (Civil Protection). This policy is aimed to tackle causes and factors that generate hazards in order to reduce the impact of disasters and strengthen the capacity of responses
* Land use policy with special emphasis on water resources and water source protection prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture
* The Program of Action for Development ( Haiti : 2001-2010) presented by the Government of Haiti at the Third Conference of United Nations addressed to Least Developed Countries ( LDC)
* Strategy of the Energy Sector Reform (SESR) which aims in the short term to increase electricity generation and improve living standards in Rural areas
* Strategy for Poverty Reduction prepared by the Ministry of Planning
* Coastal Zone Management Program at the ministry of Environment
* Five year national plan of Haiti (2004-2009)
