International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme (ASAP)
The Adaptation for Smallholder Agriculture Programme (ASAP) is a new programme launched by IFAD in 2012 to channel climate and environmental finance to smallholder farmers so that they can increase their resilience. ASAP is a multi-year and multi-donor programme that has received substantial financial support from the Governments of Belgium, Canada, Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Other donor countries are appraising a contribution.

There is a growing consensus that climate change is transforming the context for rural development, changing physical and socio-economic landscapes and making smallholder development more expensive. But there is less consensus on how smallholder agriculture practices should change as a result.
