Event is from 3:00 pm -4:30 pm The ongoing World Bank study - the Economics of Adaptation to Climate Change - has tried to further the understanding on two key issues: what will it cost developing countries to adapt to climate change and how can countries make their development plans more climate-resilient? This event will provide highlights of the groundbreaking Global Report and draw lessons from it to explain:

  1. The what, how, and why of adaptation;
  2. Whether adaptation is simply development (or not); and,
  3. How different estimates of global costs of adaptation fit together.

An overview will also be provided of the "Country Case Studies" track of the study, currently underway in Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Samoa and Vietnam, and implications of adaptation for country-specific development paths.
