During recent years, “Climate Change” has been on the top of national as well as international agendas. United Nations have established the Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the reports of its International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have provided strong scientific evidence on the causes and impacts of climatic change. The recent COP15 meeting in Copenhagen failed to agree on coherent mitigation action against the dominant GHG emission sources, and it now seems likely that the changes and their impacts will exceed the recommendations of the IPCC.

The Pacific and Caribbean come together to share experiences

Pacific Islanders working to reduce the risk of natural disasters and combat the effects of climate change in their island nations will meet with their Caribbean counterparts to engage in an exchange of technologies, ideas and expertise. The exchange is part of the South-South project established to strengthen the safety and resilience of both regions in facing common threats based on the similar geography of small islands and is taking place from 10-23 July across four Carribbean countries.
