Abstract: People living in mountain ecosystems in the developing world are particularly vulnerable to climate change as a result of their high dependence on natural resources for their livelihoods, comparatively higher exposure to extreme events, and widespread poverty and marginalisation. However, little is known about the impacts of climate change on these communities, people's perceptions of change, or their capacity to adapt. In order to identify the key determinants for future adaptation, we need to have a much better understanding of these issues.

Global Adaptation Atlas

Summary:

The Adaptation Atlas is a dynamic mapping tool, developed by Resources for the Future, in collaboration with a diverse network of partners.

As adaptation is both a global and a local problem affecting populations and ecosystems around the world, it is natural that responses will be sector-, site-, and population-specific. Success depends on site-specific attention and effective large-scale real-time coordination of impacts and actions.

Full Report

This report uses updated information from WHO programmes and scientific studies for both exposure data and the causal associations of risk exposure to disease and injury outcomes. It applies these updated risk analyses to the latest regional estimates of mortality and disease burden for a comprehensive set of diseases and injuries for the year 2004.
