Implementing Agency and Partnering Organizations:
UNDP, Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP)Summary:
PACC Federated States of Micronesia - Adapting coastal road designs to take into consideration the impacts of climate change
As 70% of the population and infrastructures are located by the coast their vulnerability to climate changes and sea-level rise is very high. Developing adaptive designs in coastal road systems will enhance resilience against intense rainfall and storm surges, and would also go a long way in reducing maintenance costs over time.

Environmentally Safe Aggregates for Tarawa
-
Project details
-
Implementing Agency and Partnering Organizations:
Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission (SOPAC)Summary:
The goal of this Kiribati EU project implemented by SOPAC is to support the community of Kiribati to combat coastal erosion on its most densely populated atoll, Tarawa. The atoll faces severe coastal erosion problems which result in the loss of land, wave overtopping and flooding of businesses and houses and critical infrastructure such as the local hospital. The project aims to protect the vulnerable beaches of South Tarawa from damage caused by aggregate mining and provide an alternative supply of material through environmentally safe lagoon dredging.

Implementing Agency and Partnering Organizations:
Asian Development BankSummary:
With the exception of the water supply servicing Koror and Airai States, water supply systems in Palau are operated and maintained by the state government. The water supply to Airai and Koror is operated and maintained by the Public Works Department (PWD) and supplies water to approximately 64% of Palau's population. Based on 2005 census data, the population of Palau is growing annually at about 1.4%. However, the proportion of the population living in the Koror-Airai urban area has declined from 71% in 1995 to 64% in 2005.
Project Components:
1. Development of a secure water source,
2. Bulk transport of water from source to existing water supply network
